I went to the library and checked out about a dozen vegan cookbooks and then bought those with the most interesting recipes. It's hard to describe, but its in everything from the way the characters speak to their frame of reference. Such writers and illustrators as Guy Davis (perhaps best known for his work on the Hellboy spinoff series B.P.R.D.) and Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise, Echo) make contributions, while Petersen bridges the stories with brief barroom interludes.As with any collection of numerous collaborators, quality can vary. Some parts of the story were pretty good but overall I was just plain annoyed with where the whole thing ended up.
