The author interviewed the survivors first hand. It's quintessential Steinberg in black and white and color, full of his businessmen, dowagers, hookers, landscapes and scary urban scenes. This isa tiny book with pictures so small that it's useless to me.. Will continue to read any other books written by this author. I realize this is NA, but with the ease these guys partied, got alcohol and slept around it seemed like they should have been 28 rather than eighteen. The author puts us in the high cab of one of these “gentle giants” (as he calls them), the prototype A-1 Berkshire, with 2-8-4 wheels, fresh from the locomotive works in Lima, Ohio. And we, the readers, are better for this.A compelling read!. There is a wonderfully surprising twist near the end that helps explain the motivation, and it all ties up nicely.Of all the things I liked about this book, one of my favorites is how everything finally comes together.
