I hope his long out-of-print titles will be back soon now that he's gone.. I found his usual grace of line, modernist sensibility, drafting genius and erudite wit all there, but not in as great quantity as his earlier works. His great books e.g. great artist / artisan book but i miss the french / parisian architecture. It's a shame the book is not in hard-cover; with that and in a larger format, it would be ideal for the art officiando as an interesting/informative library addition. I found it a good place to discover some lesser-known artists that played a part of the emerging figurative art movement. Thorough and complete telling of the prime years. Saul Steinberg died on 12 May and, in preparing an appreciation for publication, I revisited some of his books, most of which are out of print, alas. This book is filled with glorious photos of pillow groupings, many with exuberant animal prints, that are sure to inspire you or validate your taste. Caroline Jones has done a stunning job, in her book 'Bay Area Figurative Art', of defining and chronicaling the counter movement, to abstract expressionism, of representational, figurative art, in California, from 1950-1965. I love Steinberg's work. This book presents the last stirrings of abstract expressionism into the birth of a newly re-discovered figure. The Chronolgy and Notes sections are extensive and add to the informational whole.. Palais de Chaillot, Les Jardins du Trocadéro, Le Grand Rex cinema etc.He escaped, and thus began an almost farcical odyssey: the former West Point student and Harvard professor was now an acid-tripping fugitive. The book includes black and white illustrations throughout.. In this delightfully irreverent account, Leary describes his time in Algeria; how he was sheltered by an arms dealer in Switzerland; his exploits with the Weathermen and Eldridge Cleaver, who tried to hold him hostage; and his eventual capture and return to the United States. Busted for pot in 1965, Timothy Leary was sentenced to 25 years in prison
